Ian is Consulting Director with the Genesis office in Belfast and specialises in Strategic Management and Science Policy. Clients have included Intertrade Ireland, The Advisory Science Council, Enterprise Ireland and food and drink, pharmaceutical, and energy companies in the private sector. He holds a PhD in physics and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Previously Ian was Director of PA's Strategy Practice in Ireland and was involved in a wide variety of assignments including major food sector reviews on both sides of the border. He also worked for Ulster Weavers as Group Marketing and later Managing Director, the Coras Trachtala in Dublin and Dusseldorf and Cantrell and Cochrane.

Ian is a former Chairman of the CBI Northern Ireland and was a member of the Economic Development Forum. He is currently on the Boards of Dale Farm/UDF, ERINI, DETI, IBEC-CBI Forum and is Chairman of the Lagan College Board.
